How to Join Zing!
Joining Zing! is a two-step process.
-
An audition between the child and the Artistic Director is arranged. Auditions are an informal meeting that usually lasts no more than five minutes.
-
The Artistic Director contacts the parent to advise the family if the child has been accepted as a new chorister. The admission of new choristers is the decision of the Artistic Director
Choristers are expected to make Zing! a priority. Please check the Zing! rehearsal and performance schedule (below) to ensure that you are able to fully participate before joining. |

Rehearsal & Performance Schedule Rehearsals and Theory Sessions Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays:
- RiZing! 3:45 - 5:15 pm
- Zing! One 3:45 - 5:45 pm
- Zing! Too 3:45 - 6:00 pm

at Shaughnessy Heights United Church, 1550 West 33rd Ave (at Granville)
TeenZ! (Grades 8-12)
6:45 - 8:30 pm Wednesdays
This is a great opportunity for older Zing! members to explore vocal technique and unique repertoire from all genres of music. This choir will provide singers the experience
to take their musicianship to the next level and develop their vocal abilities with a broad range of styles.
TeenZ! rehearsals are held at St. Philips Anglican Church, 3737 27th West Avenue, Vancouver
Dress Rehearsals
There may be additional dress rehearsals which will be set at the beginning of each term. Choristers will be notified of these at the regular rehearsals and in the e-newsletter. Choristers who miss the dress rehearsal will not be permitted to sing at the performance. This policy is firm in order to maintain performance standards and in order to be fair and equitable to all choristers.

Rehearsal and Theory Session Expectations Choristers are expected to:
- arrive at rehearsals and theory sessions 10 minutes in advance to allow time for filling water bottles and going to the bathroom,
- attend all rehearsals and theory sessions,
- behave appropriately before the rehearsal (i.e. no running or shouting),
- be respectful of the rehearsal venue,
Choristers who regularly ignore the above expectations may be asked to leave the choir. |
Children's voices bring joy to our souls, life to our culture and hope to our country. There's no other tonic like it in the world. Each time I hear Zing! I walk away feeling happy, inspired, and young. You will too. Long may they shine!

Performances
Choristers will have the opportunity to perform at a variety of events. Attendance is compulsory. These include:
- formal concerts (at which admission will be charged),
- fundraising events (the ticket price of which will depend on the target audience),
- family sing-alongs,
- church services (we are not affiliated with any church, however, invitations to sing at churches provide excellent performance experiences), and
- community events
The calendar is set by the Artistic Director in conjunction with the Board. On occasion the Choir is invited to sing with limited notice at special events. Choristers available for these special events will delight in such performance opportunities.
